From Peschiera the Mincio river, with its beautiful turquoise colour, unwinds across a stunning panorama, passing through Valeggio sul Mincio to Mantova. The small village of Borghetto is dominated by a large Scaligero castle which, together with the 60 Metre long Visconti bridge, represents an extraordinary testimony of the past. The picturesque medieval surroundings, along with its excellent restaurants, makes this a place well worth visiting. Local specialities include fresh fish from the lake and tortellini of Valeggio (locally known as " love knots" due to their shape. ) After a hearty meal take a walk or bike ride in the inviting surroundings.
