Brescia following in the footsteps of the Romans

The old town centre of Brescia is one of northern Italy’s most interesting archaeological excavation sites. Numerous Roman buildings have been uncovered and restored. When doing a sight seeing tour of the town you can admire and visit the impressive remains of the Forum Romanum, a temple, theatre and basilica, as well as several private villas. The cloister Santa Giulia, which today houses the Town Museum, was also built on the ruins of a Roman villa. These ruins have been perfectly restored and are part of an exhibition about Brescia’s – not only Roman – past, which is worth seeing.

Museo Santa Giulia, Via Musei 81/b, daily, except Mondays, 9:30 – 17:30
